Holidays Ranked By My "Expert" Opinion
1. Halloween- Spooky season is my favorite time of the year. It's chilly enough outside to use the fuzziest blankets you own, the perfect weather to drink hot chocolate, and (hopefully) snow has not started to fall yet. (That's not always the case, but hey, one can dream.) Scary movies, along with my favorite childhood Halloween movies (ie. Scary Godmother, Halloweentown, Hocus Pocus etc.) are constantly playing and that gives me a sincere surge of happiness.
2. Thanksgiving- You're lying if you say you don't love Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is a fairly big holiday for my family, and it makes me extremely grateful that there are some amazing cooks in my family. We often take things for granted, and I appreciate a day where we can all come together, be thankful for what we have, eat amazing food, and watch a good football game.
3. Christmas- Snow is pretty as long as you don't have to drive in it. Christmas is the one day I absolutely adore having snow outside. My brother is only two years older than me, and I remember us always waking up around 4 or 5 in the morning and wanting to open presents to see what Santa brought. (My parents were never happy with that, and always made us wait until like 8 or 9, I now understand why). Although we don't wake as early as we did when we were little, my family always does a great job keeping Christmas magic alive. Christmas is the perfect time to bake yummy treats, drink hot chocolate and watch seven sappy love movies with the same plot line in a row with no judgement. (Shout out to Hallmark Channel).
4. New Year's Day- After the tragic year 2020 has been, I have never looked forward to a holiday the way that I am currently looking forward to the upcoming New Year's Celebration. New Year is a time to make vows yourself about how you'll finally change for the better (even though you'll probably break those resolutions within the first two weeks, no shame, I'm with ya.). For those who do stick to their resolutions, I give them so many props and applauses. New Year is a time for a new outlook, a time of reflection on the past year in order to move forward.
I know there's more holidays, but these are my top four. Thanks for reading :)))
