A Collection of Quotes That I Really Like

Does anyone else have a serious Pinterest problem? I could spend HOURS going through it. Here are some of my favorite quotes that I found through Pinterest :) "I never had a chance to be soft. I was always bloody knuckles and shards of glass.  I wanted people to be afraid of hurting me." "Mother says there are locked rooms inside all women; kitchen of lust, /bedroom of grief, /bathroom of apathy./ Sometimes, the men-they come with keys, / and sometimes, the men-they come with hammers." -Warsan Shire, from "The House" "Until the lion learns how to write, every story will glorify the hunter" -African Proverb "I belong to quick, futile moments of intense feeling. Yes, I belong to moments. Not to people." -Virginia Woolf, from A Passionate Apprentice "I think about dying but I don't want to die. Not even close. In fact my problem is the complete opposite. I want to live, I want to escape. I feel trapped and bored and claustrophobic...

Thoughts From Under A Tree

Today I sat outside under a tree. I sat in the sun and thought about many things. The most prominent thought I had, out of many odd thoughts, was that my entire life is most likely a complete lie. Let me explain.  Many people have many different aspirations in life, and I am one of those people. However, I also want many different lives. (Ya know how Voldemort splits his soul into 7 pieces so he can't die? Yeah, I might need to find a way to do that so I can just live 7 different lives at once). However, I also do not feel that this is all I could be doing with my life right now. For example, I would absolutely love to live in Vermont. I would have a small cottage in the woods with a greenhouse. I would supply myself with a majority of my own food based off of a plentiful garden.  On the other h...

An Introduction of Sorts

It's been quite some time since I've had to write a diary or journal of sorts, but I'll give it my best effort.  I'm majoring in English Education, with the goal of eventually teaching high school English. I am a sophomore here at Mercyhurst, and absolutely love it. I always thought it was a joke when they said "Hurst is home", but now I feel it very deeply.  I am 19 years old and come from a very small town about an hour form Erie. I live with my parents and my brother, who is two years older than I. I have two dogs and a kitten. I also have a lot of plants. Gardening and tending to houseplants are two of my favorite hobbies. From the time I was little, I watched my grandmother cook, bake, and care for plants. I'd like to think I take after her with these hobbies, but I can absolutely attest that I am no where near as good as she is at any of these  activities.  My favorite animals are sharks and owls. Sharks are often misrepresented and are extremely b...
